Several of my Village friends work in Richardson off Campbell, George Bush/Renner, etc. It's not a bad drive and the Village is very close to 75, the highway that will get you up there.

Knock on wood, I've never been a victim of crime. The Village is a huge development with about a dozen complexes - some are newer and fancier, some are larger, some allow pets but they all share the same country club and management. They take good care of the place and it's reasonably priced overall although the newer (1-3 year old places) are pricier. There is some crime here but there are bad people everywhere. The Village does have security guys who drive around the complexes and they even have a guy on horseback that I see occasionally. The horse isn't because we're in Texas; it's just easier and potentially faster if need be to navigate between buildings. They also have security standing on the sidewalks from two of the entrances in the development. I'm not sure that them standing there on their cell phones deters crime but maybe it does. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. It's within 10 minutes or so of White Rock Lake plus you can easily bike down there for the trails. It's also a quick drive to the Katy Trail...another popular place for cyclists/joggers. It's 10 minutes north of downtown and the cultural things there. It's 5 minutes (less if you make the lights) from one of the nicest malls in town.

Good luck!
Please forgive my ignorance, but where is this Village area you are talking about?

Great area, IMO. Almost everyone I know has, at one time or another, rented in this area. And it's convenient to just about everything.
