The following studies from a group called ProtectYouth.org show we are doing a better job controlling tobacco smoking than marijuana among school kids, at least in Dallas and other metropolitan areas across the state. What are your thoughts on this?

That's because tobacco is legal and marijuana is not. Punishing adults and making it easier for kids to get pot than cigarettes makes no sense.

Thoughts? It's simple. Illegal drug pushers aren't asking for ID.

your irony escapes me--so you think it is ok for kids to use tobacco or other drugs???

Thoughts? It's simple. Illegal drug pushers aren't asking for ID. and the pushing the boundaries for drugs--you don't get the same high from tobacco that you get from weed

No, I didn't say it is ok for kids to use unhealthy substances.

What I did imply (it wasn't irony - it was sarcasm) was that this kind of argument (using children) is popular with prohibitionists. As if we don't fight drugs enough already in this country.

Are you saying regulation should only apply to what you deem safer drug use (i.e. tobacco smoking) and we should let the marijuana market run amok, allowing dealers to make marijuana more available to Dallas kids than cigarettes?

When I saw the thread title I assumed this was about losing our kids to the prescription pharmaceutical drug market.

We have a generation of parents who don't raise kids properly, then dope them when they misbehave.
