I have heard that africanized bees are in South TX, I guess now they have gotten this far north :-( I'm sorry your uncle lost his dogs but I'm glad he is going to be okay.

Do they know where the swarm came from? Did they destroy the hive? I think they have hives in the ground rather than in trees - he must have hit it with his weed eater.

The bee hive was in the next door neighbors tree. That area of Forest Hill is heavily forested. Basically, the neighbor next door new about the bee nest but didn't feel the bees where a threat. The bees attacked because they heard the weed eater and felt threatened. Africanized bees are very sensitive to loud noise and when they feel threaten they will attack. The bee exterminator did exterminate the bees.
