I posted yesterdy about Provence at Firewheel and now realize there are lots of communities that are just as close to 78/railroad.

Can anyone share feedback on frequency of trains, noise level, etc.?

Appreciate hearing whatever you wish to share about living in the area.

Thanks in advance!

I live in Murphy and you can hear the train on cool, quiet nights but unless you live right by the tracks it isn't an issue.

Murphy has implemented quiet zones in the last few years so they are NOT blowing their horns all the way thru town like they used to. AFAIK Wylie isn't anywhere near getting quiet zones in place.

Thanks a bunch! That's good to know. One resident we stopped to chat with told us trains pass PAF three or four times a day.

Does that sound about right?

I lived in Maxwell Creek in Sachse (not Wylie's Maxwell Creek) and that is about 1/2 mile from the tracks and I very rarely heard the train and I worked from home. If I was up in the middle of the night, I would hear a faint whistle around 2am, but never noticed it during the day.

All intersections in Murphy are Quiet Zones. You are plenty far enough from the closest crossing in Plano that it wont be an issue. I know several people on Mockingbird and Condor and that's never come up.

I live in Wylie and I rarely hear the train. There's signs up at the intersections saying "No Train Horn", so I think it's a quiet zone.
