Wheels are stolen off of my car in a gated community. The gates have not been functional for the last one week. Can I do something about this other than calling filing a report(which i did)?
thanks in advance for your replies.

If you are an owner you can contact the HOA since you pay for it. I don't think there will be restititution but you can put pressure on them to repair the gate.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Yes, and remember that a gate does little but keep only the laziest thieves/criminals out. I used to live in a gated community where cars and units were regularly broken into.

thanks guys for the replies.
I only rent the apartment. I came to know about the reason why the gates are non-functional. Some crooks vandalized them on Halloween and the apartment management is waiting on the insurance company to respond. I mean, till the insurance company comes back, they dont want to repair the gates.
I am planning to talk to the corporate office.
thanks again.

tell that to your insurance company when you file your theft report--it is possible your insurance company can file a claim against the apt complex and get more attention that you as an individual

I totally feel your pain as the same thing happened to me 6 weeks ago. My current community is gated however all anyone has to do to gain entry is simply wait by the entrance and follow the next person who has a key-card into the complex. I'm afraid that filing a report was about all I was able to do; hope you have better luck!
