Fratermus @6:11pm: ...which is why you should be looking in Richardson.

The gist of this reading is that areas with large numbers of rental houses are frequently (to use a term of art) craptastic.

From my post above: We are continuing to look in both areas.

Thank you to those of you who actually helped me with my question.

When I first moved to Texas I lived in South Garland, 75040. I quickly moved to North Garland 75044 but as it has been said the zip codes twist and turn easily so its hard to gauge. I loved North Garland and saw myself staying there for long term until I experienced Carrollton Schools and now I love them and have moved to Carrollton but good luck to ya!

Tatum,

There is no way you were living in S. Garland if you lived in 75040. 75040 does not go south of Miller Rd. Also portions of 75040 are very definitely considered N. Garland.

MusicMom,

Here is a website you can use to see where the boundaries are for any zip code.

Click for a Zip Code Boundary Map.

Not always so. There was a house in my hood up for rent for the sum of $6000. Yes, $6000 IN GARLAND. There ARE plenty of people that live IN Garland that kept their first house IN Garland and put it up as a rental. So it isn't "craptastic". Besides, the City of Garland has a VERY STRICT rental home inspection code they adhere to by the book. Slumlords are a thing of the past now
