POOL. I wanted a home with a pool. If I found a home that didn't have a pool we would of just put one in.

The resale homes I looked at with pools had great pools, but were just ok homes. If they had both a nice pool and a nice home, the price went way up.

I think people that build new (in my price range) with a pool in mind simply cut some other corners to get the pool into their budget. Others I looked at with both were much older homes and the pool was the backyard. If I didn't have kids, that would have been ok, but with kids they need more space.

$230k for 3300 sqft ! What area of Dallas is this ? I am assuming this is some place far like Mckinney ? Is your work pretty close to where you live ?

I am looking for close to work (5-10 miles radius) with good school district, and I can only find $100 /sqft rates.

I'm in central Plano between Coit and Independance, north of Spring Creek Parkway. I'm less than 5 miles from my office by the Shops of Legacy.

I live someplace faaaaaaarrrrr in Mckinney, and I can get to Gopadge's area in Plano in 12 mins (less than 10 miles). Mckinney was actually closer for me than was Frisco (22 miles vs 18)

Mckinney is huge, so assuming that all of it is way out there is incorrect.

Central Plano (between say Coit and Custer) is alot more affordable that West Plano. East Plano (Custer to the other side of the 75) is even less expensive, but I'm not real happy with the schools in that area. It is also very unsightly and bland.

We bought a 3300 sq ft home on 20 fenced acres near Greenville with an inground pool and a horse-barn for $280K last year. At first I was leery of having a pool, but the upkeep hasn't been all that time consuming or expensive and I have very much enjoyed swimming again.
