A lot of Las Colinas is actually Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. If CFISD isn't good enough then you can move to nearby Valley Ranch in the Coppell ISD. I am not sure what is available within your budget but it's worth it to look.

There should be some nice apartments in South Flower Mound that have good schools also.

Most of Valley Ranch, which is still city of Irving, is in the Carrollton Farmers Branch school district and nicely rated.

CFBISD on that part of town offers 4 elementary schools 3 or which are Exemplary. Freeman (Valley Ranch area), Tom Landry (Valley Ranch area), and Las Colinas (Las Colinas area). I personally would want Freeman or Las Colinas apts. over Tom Landry's apts.. LaVillita is the newest but it isn't exemplary yet. I expect it will be exemplary. Las Colinas is an IB school. As for middle school the only one for CFB in that area is Bush Middle School. I think it is an IB school too. The highschool is Ranch and it is an I B school and what is nice about this school is that it is a small school. If you student is interested in a special type of school then CFB offers several magnet type of schools at HS level. Biomedical, International Law, TV and Film (not exact title), and a few others. These are located at the different HS in Carrollton-FB school district.

I would also suggest looking at Coppell. One of the best ISDs in the state. You can get a condo or even a SFR for that price. Only a handful out there but they exist.

Just keep in mind that not all of Coppell is in the Coppell ISD, if that matters.
