You should have been around in December 1983, when it was below freezing for 12 straight days!

Thank god the summers aren't as bad as here though lol
Either June or July of 1997 there was a heatwave in MA with temps as high as 100. We had no AC, of course, in our little one bedroom apt. I was 7 months pregnant, thought I was going to die! I tried to spend as much time as I could between the library and the movie theater down the street. One of the most brutal days I went to 3 movies!
That was a crazy summer.

Yes, the winters are brutal. This is nothing!

I'm happy as long as there is no ice on the ground! I'm looking forward to some hot, muggy summers though...that's my kind of weather

I'm trying to make my boyfriend find an apartment with central AC, although I know those are few and far between up in those parts. If I was pregnant and it was 100 out you better bet your ass I'd be making him buy and install as many window ACs as we were allowed to have and I'd be parking my ass under one of them ALL day lol

I love it. As long as it's not 100.

Memorable winters:

Many occasions where for weeks on end if the temp rose into the 30's it was t-shirt weather.
Delivering newspapers Xmas AM across 4 ft snowdrifts.
Snowdrifts up to the roof and Dad throwing his whole body against the door to force it open.
near back to back 30+ inch snowstorms - enough snow by Feb as the Boston Herald put it - to "bury the Chief" (Robert Parish Boston Celtics Center 7'4")
I'll have to dig up some of those picture for you all.

Oh and of course, many fine memories of sunbathing on South Beach in January.

I'm changing my status btw - that way you can all use the Bostonian barometer to see if it's really cold or not.

^^^ Well, this morning to take the kids to school I only wore a t-shirt, hoodie (UT burnt orange of course - HOOK'EM HORNS), jeans and slide in shoes w/ no socks. No gloves or anything else either. Of course my car was in the garage overnight and I didn't have to get out of the car. Getting ready to leave in a bit and still won't take a coat. I'm good w/ a scarf and a pair of gloves if it is cold and just a sweater or VERY LIGHT jacket - hate coats.

Parrish was only 7'0", but we get the point.

If it wasn't for killing off insects and decreasing allergens for the coming year, I would absolutely hate the cold. People complain about unbearable heat, but the cold will kill you faster - you can find shade in the day and be able to sleep at night in the summer, but try living without shelter in the winter - I feel for the homeless this time of year.

The current weather isn't "that bad", even yesterday I saw the high was in the 30s, and although I wasn't out that much, with the sun and lack of wind, I didn't notice the cold...and that was a day in the 30s. But I think the comming days in the 20s and teens will have wind and be cloudy, so I already went to Wal Mart and stocked up so I can hibernate from Thursday through Saturday. 50 next week will feel like a heat wave lol.

It will not matter how cold it gets there WILL be at least one guy you will see wearing shorts and flipflops. LOL!!!! Chances are he will be more apt to be from here than a transplant from a cold state.
