My wife and I are moving to the Coppell area in March and we noticed it's in close proximity to the DFW airport. We were wondering how bad the noise is from incoming and outgoing aircraft

It can definitely be noisy at times. When we first moved to Texas we lived in an apartment complex at 121 and Denton Tap in Lewisville for about a year and there were times (especially in the spring) when the jets would come in low under the cloud deck and rattle things on the walls.

It depends on what part of Coppell. We looked at houses all over the city, but ended up buying on the east side near MacArthur and Lakeside Elementry. I think you hear more west of Denton Tap the closer you get to Grapevine. Obviously the weather and direction of the wind also plays a role. It isn't an issue for us as we rarely notice it.

I think most of the flight patterns go over Grapevine. I really wouldn't worry about it. We had jets fly over us all the time in Flower Mound and never noticed them.

If you look at a map of DFW, you will see the runways basically point up a major highway. Therefore, the approach patterns are up 121 and 114. VERY few homes are in these areas; they ar emostly retail and industrial. If you are at Grapevine Mills Mall, or in the Wal-Mart on 114, you hear the planes. I live in SW Grapevine and it is extremely rare for me to get jet noise at my house. I honestly hear more noise from the freeways...

I live on the east side of Coppell by where new2aus mentioned and I rarely hear planes. It has never bothered me nor my husband.
