Hello....I saw similar questions but none that really met my needs for a neighborhood....I am probably moving to Dallas in March and was wondering where to live??? What I'm looking for...I'm a hybrid of a punk rock/hipster type as much as I hate to admit it. Veggie restaurants, health food stores, art galleries, coffee shops, vintage shops, etc nearby would be ideal ...would prefer an older neighborhood but not necessary. Schools aren't a big deal to me.....I'm looking within a 30 minute drive from Roanoke as that's where I'll be working but again...not a neccesity.

I'm looking for an apartment up to $700. Thanks for any help in advance : )

Sounds to me like Deep Ellum. On a google map of Dallas search Deep Ellum. It's just across I45 from downtown. The area may be going thru some hard times while DART's putting a rail line thru.

Google says it's 35 mins. on a good day but it is against rush hour. Good luck.

Don't miss the Deep Ellum Arts Festival, Arpil 2-4.

Roanoke is way off the beaten path - far from Dallas. You might look at Denton.

I was just thinking that Denton may be a better fit just because the commute to Roanoke would be better. It's a college town.

Yeah, I thought about Denton, too. Sounds good but that drive across the late irritates me, 'specially during rush hour.

Wow! I had to look up Roanoke - it's way over there....away from the neighborhoods in Dallas that would best fit you - Deep Ellum, East Dallas, Bishop Arts, Cedars.

Denton is a great suggestion. Look for the upcoming NX35 NX35.
Check out happening at Dan's Dan's Silverleaf--Denton, Texas where else would you find a Vic Chessnut tribute?
And Rubber Gloves Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios - Denton, Texas.
Few places to eat Mr. Chopsticks | Denton, TX, Keiichi - Denton, TX.

That should get you started.

Roanoke is so far over there, he'd be using I-35 West instead of I-35 East over the lake.

Good point
It's been my practice to NOT venture north of Hwy 12 without extreme and just cause. Just tooo near Oklahoma.

All things considered, it just sounded more like Deep Ellum.

There is no way I would drive from Deep Ellum to Roanoke. I agree with the other posts. Denton would probably be a good fit.

Except my buddies in Denton are always driving south to find good shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Not that there isn't any in Denton, but the op seems to wants to be immediately surrounded by the young, hip crowd...
