Thanks so much for the information. I'll definitely look at those areas as well.

Again, we have enjoyed living in Chase Oaks for the past 3 years. We bought our house from some friends of ours. We always just liked their house and when we heard they were going to sell, we snapped it up. If you haven't actually been to Plano, you should probably just look at some of the various areas and see what you think.
I'll be looking at so much, but for some reason, the homes in Chase Oaks just felt right for me. Like you say, I haven't been there, but thank you for all the input.

If I were shopping in Plano again, I'd recommend looking at the following areas:

1. Go east of the 75 into Murphy. It's called Murphy, but for all intents and purposes, it seems like Plano. That would be my eastern sample with trees, larger lots, etc.

2. Then I'd look at an area close to the 75 that's nice. Pittman Creek is my favorite from this perspective.

3. Work your way towards the center. Try Whiffletree/Russell Creek.

4. Then try something in North Central Plano, like Deefield.

5. Then finally, make your way to the west (west of Preston). Extremely nice over here, but it is alot more expensive and there is a touch of an attitude. I'm not sure there is much in your price range, but look at a community like Old Sheppard's Place. Very nice little community with trees, wide streets, etc. Homes are old and need work, but it's probably the cheapest route into this part of Plano.

You may want to consider living north of McDermott, west of Custer and south of 121. You will live in Plano but get to attend Frisco schools. The elementary and MS for that area will be in your Plano neighborhoods and the High School, Liberty, is 4 min north up Custer. So your kids can go to 1 MS and 1 HS (4 grades) that will always stay 4A. Smaller HS class (<400) compared to the bigger Plano HS's (class size about 800+). Frisco schools are just as good as Plano schools.

Homes are cheaper in that area as well, and newer.

Thank you so much for the advice. My husband will actually be working in Frisco. We're coming out in two weeks to look at houses and you have all helped me so much!

Far north Plano actually feels more like Frisco/Allen than Plano.

Your very close to Frisco up there as the 121 is the dviding line.

Getting to 121, there is Custer, Independence, Coit and several others.

Easy drive.

Even Stonebridge/Mckinney (about 8 miles north of North Central Plano) is a simple drive to Frisco.

Then there is also Frisco itself....Lots of options with employment located in Frisco.

If I were you, I'd look at all of them when your out....each has a different feel.

Default Sun Creek

There is a neighborhood very close to Chase Oaks that my husband and I like. It is called Sun Creek, and is actually in Allen but I think the school district is still Plano. I would consider it as well. In fact, I think Rasor elementary which you mentioned is located in one of the areas of Sun Creek.

I am also looking to buy a house in Plano also. What I find out so far is any house located inside the rectangle of McDermott Rd, Coit Rd, Spring Creek Pkwy, and Custer Rd are in a good school area within the Plano ISD. Is this boundary correct?

Well, we discussed Rasor elementary which is east of Alma and our resident expert, momof2dfw, said she thought Rasor or schools in that area would also be fine. Again, I would add that my son went to east Plano schools and I had no problem with them.
