Yes, right. That's it. I was just thinking about the noise factor of all of the cars and buses that head down McKinnon every week day.

Oh yeah... our unit is actually tucked away in the back not facing McKinnon. Thought about this as well. Thanks for the input though... Going to study this commute issue a little more now

I am sort of in your boat- at least the moving from big northeast/midwest city to a city where i know nobody--- i was able to spend a few months in dallas last year though and i think anyone in our situation would need to live in uptown starting out (unless you check out the m street areas a bit north and find the inability to walk anywhere acceptable)

I did the same move 10 years ago. Grew up in Chicago, moved to Dallas not knowing one person. Getting used to the heat from June to Sep was the big one. Now I love it and can't stand the cold weather up north. Dallas is OK not great not bad. No state tax, good weather, cheap to live. Uptown is great with all you really need within 5 miles of here. I do miss Chicago style deep dish pizza, but that's about it
