There is no law school at UT-D. There will be one coming to UNT though, and it will be the first public law school in the North Texas area.

I'd rather do Rockwall to SMU than McKinney to SMU.

If you are dead set on North of Dallas, consider Frisco, Plano, Murphy, Wylie, Sachse, and Rowlett before McKinney IMHO.

Maybe you would get more responses if you posted this in the Oklahoma forum.

Wife commutes every day on 75 to the 635/High 5 area. Leaving @ 8:00am she gets to her desk at 8:50am.

So from McKinney to the High Five, it's 50 minutes? Then it would probably be another 30+ minutes into downtown.

Right! 75 is an utter hellpit. You don't want to be on that for 2 - 3 hours a day. Live near your work/school.

I drive north on 75 every morning between 7:30am-800am. I could walk on cars from McKinney to 635 and my feet would never touch the ground (unless your in the HOV lane)

I listen to AM 1080 KRLD in the mornings on my way to work and they usually say 30 minutes from 380 down to the George Bush Turnpike on 75. From there, it is probably another 30-40 into Downtown. This at 7:30-7:45 am. If you leave early enough, like around 6:30, you could probably do it in 40-45 minutes. After 7 is when it really gets heavy and doesn't really get any better until 9.

Mckinney to SMU would be a true beating everyday...there are many other wonderful places to live that would be so much closer. Now, if she would just be going ONLY once or twice a week, and you REALLY liked Mckinney, then I would say go for it. But if she is going everyday, then I would NOT recommend it. I am sure law school is very stressful..the last thing she would need is a stressful and time-consuming commute too.

I didn't notice if you mentioned where YOU would be working/ going to school? That would obviously need to be factored in too.

If you meant UNT (and not UTD, since there is not law school there) then Mckinney would be fine...still a bit of a drive along 380 (about 30 minutes I would guess), but a pretty drive, and if you lived in west Mckinney you could cut that time down a little.
