I just moved to the West Village area in Uptown Dallas. What would be some good hotels for them to stay in. I have been told Hotel Zaza - any other ideas that are maybe a little cheaper?

Thanks everyone!

Adam

I think Zaza might be a bit too "young" for your parents... Look into the Warwick Melrose, at the corner of Cedar Springs and Oak Lawn, and the Stoneleigh.

The Melrose typically has great rates and is gorgeous.

Can you try and get a deal on Priceline or one of the other hotel auction sites?

The Crescent or Ritz Carlton are more appropriate for your parents unless they like to party. Also look into the bed and breakfast in State Thomas; I forget the name of it, though.

i think zaza may be the lowest price of the hotels in the area. if they want to stay a little farther and don't mind driving in, they could try the doubletree on 75

Right, but the OP did want something cheaper than Zaza. The Crescent and the Ritz, while nice, definitely don't fall into that category.

Yeah, guess it depends on the weekend, etc. Sometimes you can get a really great rate at any of these places. I always look at hotwire.com first.

Unless your parents are hipsters, Hotel ZaZa doesn't really seem like a parents kind of place. It's not cheap either. For luxury at a lower price I would look across the freeway into Downtown Dallas. The Fairmont Hotel is just a couple of blocks south of Uptown and it was recently renovated. They often have great deals, especially on weekends: Dallas Hotels: The Fairmont Dallas Luxury Hotel in Texas.

^^ And at the Fairmont they can catch the trolley a block away and ride it up into Uptown. Unfortunately, it appears to be much more expensive than I expected it to be (just a tad less expensive than the hotels in Uptown). There is also the Sheraton just south of the Arts District with some rooms at half the price of those at the Fairmont. The Magnolia Hotel in center of Downtown is quite nice and a room there can often be had for +/- $120, sometimes less, but it has less convenient access to Uptown.
