I came across this site today that tracks and maps participation rates in this year's census. Just type in your zip code for stats in your area. Enjoy!

Take 10 Map - 2010 Census

Here are some of the figures as of March 26, 2009

National Participation Rate: 29%
Texas Participation Rate: 24%

Participation Rates in large DFW Cities
Dallas: 22%
Fort Worth: 23%
Arlington: 24%
Plano: 28%
Garland: 27%
Irving: 20%
Grand Prairie: 23%
Mesquite: 27%
McKinney: 29%
Carrollton: 26%
Denton: 25%
Frisco: 29%

Smaller City Standouts (due to relatively high/low participation rates)
Krum: 43%
DISH (Denton Co.): 41%
Fairview: 36%
Colleyville: 35%
Ovilla: 35%
Highland Village: 35%
Pantego: 35%
Highland Park: 34%

Addison: 18%
Hutchins: 18%

They must be updating the site because it now lists Rowlett at 36%. When I posted this thread, Lancaster had a participation rate of 24%. It is now at 28%.

The census bureau has been hiring people to go door to door encouraging people to participate. They pay $17.50 an hour for those interested in a seasonal job.

It may also be due to the fact that the Census form ask who lives at the location on or after April 1st. Even I was thinking maybe I shouldn't mail it in until after April 1st. So thinking those numbers should go up after April 1st...will be interesting to see. I am working at three questionnaire assistance centers and not a single person has come in for help!

if the know the participation rate then they must know how many people are in the cities making the census useless and a waste of time.
