My husband who works for smaller company in FTW said his boss--the company CEO--advertised job for his personal assistant about 2 months ago and got over ONE THOUSAND responses...
the person hired worked at it for about 2 weeks and recently has been terminated so it will be posted again...
but can you believe that number of applications--

I would say that we are definitely not out of the woods with the recession jobs outlook...

It's amazing he had the choice of 2,000 people and yet he couldn't hire someone good enough.

I agree with 'FarNorthDallas' I am sure that he did not even look though a handfull of the resumes he got and just hired the first person that someone recommended to him.

I can assure you both that 1) he did not hire the first person that someone recommended to him, 2) in fact he had his communication director do most of the interviewing and reviewing of applications

and it was 1K--not 2...according to what my husband heard--of course that could be an inflated number

If you toss the resumes with no experience, it might be only a few hundred.
