I'm interested in applying to universities for grad school to get an M.Ed in Guidance Counseling. What are some good universities in the Dallas area to look into? Can anyone help please?

for that degree I would say UNT in Denton which has the largest education dept in the area--many of the admins get their certification there because it is less expensive and used to have an accomodating summer schedule--don't know about now,
TWU does not offer a MEd in guidance counseling that I know about
TCU has one Master's in Counseling that focuses on school guidance/counseling--others focus on other areas...
UT Dallas has just straight MS in Psychology w/o Education aspect but
Dallas Baptist has MEd school counseling

this link has the state, private, on-line schools in Tx with programs
School Counseling Graduate Programs in Texas - GradSchools.com

you might consider out of area schools with strong Internet/distance learning programs...
might be better degree/rep than UNT...

from my experience much of the time of a middle or high school guidance counselor is taken up with paper work--tracking students' credits to make sure they have the right ones for graduation, making sure that if they fail a class they are rescheduled for it even if it is out of sequence (like 10 grade English A as a senior)...
helping balance classes that need adjusting

Did you consider SMU as well?

One of the most respected counseling programs in the state is TAMU-Commerce. It has a strong education department as well as an excellent master's program in counseling. If you have any special ed background (and even if you don't) you might want to consider getting a diagnostician certificate while you're at it - high demand in that field right now (also in speech therapy, but that's a completely different track, of course).
