Powder scare disrupts classes, TAKS testing at two Garland ISD schools | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Dallas News on Yahoo! | The Dallas Morning News

Scary as the story is, the comments from the locals are even more alarming! Please not that these are ELEMENTARY schools, that is why I find some of the comments about kids trying to get out of testing alarming. The rest are just dumb. Well, the ones trying to link this to the Rangers manager scandal and Al Qaeda, at least.

That's why I can hardly stand to read the comments section of the DMN stories anymore. Ugh.

I agree. Pretty much any article on the DMN site is going to be filled with mean-spirited, insulting, hateful or off-topic comments. The articles are supposedly "monitored" for content by DMN staff, but by the looks of the garbage that often gets through, they should just go ahead and remove that disclaimer from each page. Its a shame.

what is a shame is that there is so much hate in the world and people feel the need to just spew it out in any manner they can that is anonymous...

whatever your stand on the health care bill I think any reasonable person has to admit that the threats to members of Congress who supported the bill are totally off-the-wall...and criminal investigations need to provide swift justice to those who are abusing their right to free speech--
what is happening is not free speech but harassment, assault, and border-line treason...

I agree about the comments on the DMN and WFAA articles. They are AWFUL!!! You can tell that the majority of the posters are not even interested in the article they are posting on and the rest are clueless. One cracked me up when I read it as it said, "the schools are close to each other". WTH!!! NO THEY ARE NOT! They are MILES away from each other. I believe the same commenter said a 5th grader probably did it.

A teacher wouldn't dare do it as they KNOW they are going to have to make it up on another day that they already have stuff planned for. They are just as ready as the kids to just hurry up and get the thing over with.

OH! One thing yesterday that did crack me up was that Laura Bush picked YESTERDAY, a TAKS day to visit a Dallas Elementary school. Was it not HER HUSBAND that actually started this mess and she picked THAT DAY to disrupt a school?????? If it would have been my childs school I would have been TICKED!!!!

I didn't put her visit and TAKS together until now. You're right! Now I'm not dissin' Laura, I actually like her, but that was a really bad idea on someone's part. If anyone here has never been in a public school during TAKS testing, it's like a lock down!

I KNOW!!!!

Granted, according to the article she visited with 1st graders and they don't do TAKS but STILL!!! It IS a disruption. Whoever allowed this to happen needs to be dealt with. From her people to the admin at DISD to the principal of the school. They all should have known this was NOT the best day for her or any other pubilc figure to visit a school.
