agree that the north part of Irving ISD has some good schools

foundation issues are the watch word when shopping in that area--part of the terrian is ridge line and part of it is not--means really that two different styles of foundations should be used depending on specific geological consideration of home--not always considered--and frankly some builders just don't build good foundations...
not all homes--but definitely some-- have foundation issues -- so get knowledgeable inspection--worth the money...

I'd buy a house in North Oak Cliff or Irving. There are charter schools and private schools for Dallas -- and there are TAG programs in schools if you have achieving kids. Homes in Irving zip code 75063 have great schools.

There's also North Hills prep, a highly rated charter school that serves Irving. University Hills (75062) in Irving South Irving (75061) have some lovely neighborhoods, too....

I have lived all over DFW since 1978 and this whole area is plagued with foundation challenges. My recommendation if that scares you ... get a pier and beam house.
