Hungry raccoons will also attack and eat cats.

What about bobcats? I've talked to some of the neighbors around here (Plano, not in Irving), but they say they have seen coyotes several years back, but I've never seen one around my place. Personally, I have seen a bobcat numerous times over the last year, including on my front doorstep. I have found squirrel & rabbit parts, plus mysterious dead birds, in the front yard, side yard and back yard. My wife said she saw the bobcat go into the drainage pipes before.

While its not unheard of for bobcats to be agressive toward other cats, it is rare. For the most part bobcats (and Pumas for that matter) dont really attack domesticated house cats. They will attack humans if you get too close, but not other cats for some reason (most of the time anyway).

Of all the creatures of the wild, Coyotes are the worst about getting ahold of domesticated cats.

Although this didn't happen in Texas, my moms cat was killed and she found it on the front lawn one morning. She had been sliced open on her belly. Come to find out the crazy neighbor kid did it and had a hit list out on the whole neighborhood. If it was a coyote, my guess is it would have taken the whole cat, not leaving anything behind.

I recall my mom saying the cops ended up at the house. Not sure what happened to the kid or his parents. She use to tell me that the dad would vacuum the plants/bushes outside....and they were real. The whole family was a nut case apparently and we had a cop that lived across the street for a while so I know he was keeping an eye out.

coyotes will leave part of their kills--

bobcats I think are much more averse to being see by people--they are around here--my husband has seen them on golf courses--but they don't "flaunt" themselves like coyotes do--
they almost dare you to do something about their presence...
