I also think that because literally every restaurant serves a burger in the DFW metroplex, natives expectations are extremely varied. Also, In n Out does have yellow mustard, you can ask for it. I know you southerners like your icky yellow mustard on your burger. Lastly, many of you are comparing InO to other restaurants that are NOT in the same category. So, you expect too much.

Sure, sometimes service can be slow but I've boiled it down to two reasons. 1. if it is slow and you order, you have to wait for them do perform a magical task. It is called COOKING! They don't pre cook patties and keep them in a warming drawer. 2. If the restaurant is busy, you may have to wait a bit, especially if A) the drive thru line is long and B) you have a super custom order, which is another benefit to InO's service. You can order the burger 10000 different ways. Chances are you receive your order faster when the restaurant is busy because they are putting more patties on the grill and they're not working on other tasks like cleaning, it's all hands on deck when it is busy.

I'm not saying you have to like the place but seriously stop it with the ridiculous comments. With the way technology is now, everyone is a critic and everyone expects everything fast and now.
You have to be joking?

1. I&O burgers are at best decent - small and cheap and you wanna' talk about greasy wow.
2. I&O fires are awful - McDonalds fries - much better, Wendys fries - much better, Whataburger fries - much better, Sonic fries - much better. These fries are so dry that one needs a water chaser or better yet a Heimlich Maneuver specialist on stand-by.
3. I will give them credit for using very fresh looking and produce.
4. I&O employees are always very nice and friendly, that's a big plus in my book.

Especially, given the fanboy's KGB quality disinformation campaign before I&O opened locally. You would have thought I&O was going to sport Liberty Burger or Hopdoddy quality burgers.

All that equals overrated.

1. the double double is an incredible bargain, for a fresh cooked burger. That is not available at any other fast food chain. You can spend about $6 at InnO and feel like you had something made well. They even present their burgers as well as their photography.
2. Apparently you like frozen fries. Just go buy some OreIda frozen then. You can also ask for your fries to be over or under cooked.
3. Not only fresh produce, never frozen meat, and fresh made buns (all in house).
4. InO employees are the best because of their corporate culture and pay. They are very strict in cleanliness, friendliness, and efficiency.

Dans = Steak n shake. = not that great....
Texas is weak or do you mean Fort Worth is weak? We have great Chinese in Dallas. Plano and Richardson also have great Chinese. Great pizza isn't on every corner, but Dallas has some amazing pizza.

There is a thread in the Denver forum where the same person asked:
What do you think? Should Denver get an In-N-Out burger?

9 replies followed (so far) which stated things like in and out was overhyped, overcooked, lousy fries, etc.

It's just another California hyped product.

Zagat’s 2012 fast food survey results are out. The popular restaurant guide surveyed 10,554 people who made a total of 1.2 million trips to fast food eateries per year. They ranked their favorite chains based on popularity, food, decor and service. The chains were divided between two categories: large, with 100 to 5,000 locations and mega, with over 5,000 locations in the United States.

In-n-Out Burger
#1 on the large chain lists for most popular
#1 top-rated food
#1 service
#1 top overall

Fun Facts:

In n Out is the 11th most liked fast food chain on Facebook despite being the only one in the top 20 with less than 1000 locations (270).

That was released at 9/27/2012 12:11:00 AM and it was about fast food restaurants...not burgers.

Below was released a minute later: 9/27/2012 12:12:00 AM

Any particular reason you missed this part of Zagat which released the Best Fast Food Burger results only 1 minute later?

Fast Food: Best Burger
1. Five Guys
2. Wendy's
3. Burger King
4. In-N-Out Burger
5. Fuddruckers

Congrats on 4th place for fast food burgers.

Remind me again why Texas is so awesome? I must have missed that memo. So much CA hate. I'll bet you eat at McDonalds. They started in CA.

Congrats on 4th place for fast food burgers.
They also said, thats due to the # of stores. INnOut is by far the smallest chain on the list. I can post 4 or 5 other "best" lists if you want..... theyre easy to find. InnO is always at or near the top. And IN n Out can take the top food award and top chain overall (all they serve is burger btw), so thats ok.

Thought this snippet was interesting too:

(from 2009 data top sales by chain)

No. 11: In-N-Out Burger: The iconic Irvine-based burger chain can raise prices by 10, 15 or 20 cents and no one would blink as they gobble up their favorite secret menu meals. Sales of $457 million are astounding when you consider Five Guys generated slightly less revenue with 547 units, compared to In-N-Out's 239 units in 2009. As In-N-Out expands to Texas, I expect it to crack the Top 10 in the next few years.
$1.912 million per store for IN N Out.
$828,000 per store for 5 Guys.

No. 8: Whataburger: The iconic Texas-based chain had annual sales of more than $1 billion in 2009. Of the 700 units, the closest Whataburger locations to California are in Arizona. With In-N-Out entering Whataburger territory later this year, I wonder if the Texas chain will march West to California anytime soon?
$1.428 million per store. Whataburger
