..and we live in Lewisville. Want to go on a road trip Memorial Day Weekend (within 8 hour drive) and have no clue what is good to see or where to go! We are big into photography, nature, etc. Both in our early 30's. Any ideas? Would maybe like Southern Texas and the beach, but not familiar with TX beaches and how they look compared to Gulf Coast, etc. Any ideas?

-Did you try Cedar Hill State Park, Cedar Mountain Preserve, and Cedar Ridge Preserve? They are all located in the city of Cedar Hill.

-White Rock Lake

-3 hours up north in Oklahoma are three mountains. The Wichita Mountains, turner falls (1.5 hour distance), and Ouachitas Mountains.

Um, Turner Falls is pretty but the people there are not exactly the classiest folks on the earth. it is pretty white trash there.

I would go to the hill country south west of Austin. Places like Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Burnet, Marble Falls, Medina, Bandera, Boerne. Lost Maples State Park is beautiful, it is about a 7-8 hour drive though from the DFW area. The Frio River is in the area and it is a really nice river to chill out at because it isn't crowded like the Guadalupe and Comal.
