I usually like going out just for a drive on weekends. Like last weekend I drove down to Lancaster / Lake Joe Pool area from my house up north in Murphy. It was sort of nice just to drive by the Lake and that hilly area.

Is there any other interesting sites like that to just drive by and see? Also, is there actually any scenic drive near/in DFW?

IMNSHO, this is one of the worst areas of the country for scenery. I've been down here 11 1/2 years and there's not much to look at.

That being said, the most scenery I've seen is in the Cross Timbers Region that runs through the western edges of the metroplex. Take a drive out around Weatherford, Mineral Wells, and Springtown. You'll find a LOT more trees and there are actually hills out there.

How far do you want to go? Glen Rose is a perfect day trip, IMO. It's hilly and pretty and there are a couple of places to see- Fossil Rim and Dinosaur Valley SP.

I actually went there last year. It great place to visit! I did that as two day trip.

I was thinking about going to Possum Kingdom Lake, past Weatherford. Glen Rose also does seem like interesting place to go to for a day to trip.

I was actually for interested some trip that would take only a few hours, kind of like the drive down to Lake Joe Pool. I usually end up busy on weekend with other stuff and don't have a full day to drive down to some place. Of course unless, I do plan ahead of time.

You should take a drive around White Rock lake. There is great scenery and great homes to be seen. It will take you less than a hour.
