I haven't been there myself yet, but I've heard great things about Boosalis Baking and Cafe.

They're at the intersection of Spring Valley Pike and OH-741 in Miami Township... across from Starbucks.

Default New Homes

Are any of you familiar with the new homes being built in the Villages of Winding Creek? Boosts Centerville school system. Our realtor sent us some proposed homes in that area.

It was a neighborhood started by Beazer Homes until they pulled out when the market went bust, BUT FEAR NOT!!! Ryan Homes (a large East Coast builder) has picked up where Beazer left off in recent years. There are mulitple neighborhoods, with different price points. Supposedly, when Beazer proposed the neighborhood, there was supposed to be a clubhouse w/ pool. I've heard different timelines on when Ryan will eventually get to the stage of building it. I think it depends on the total number of lots sold before it becomes profitable to build a clubhouse.

Just be forewarned, some of the neighborhoods in Winding Creek attend Springboro schools and some attend Centerville. Check with the school's respective admin offices to make sure you are in the right district. I'm sure your realtor wouldn't lead you astray, but stranger things have happened.

Wrightflyer is correct, only the Creekside neighborhood in Winding Creek attends Centerville schools as the neighborhood is in Washington Township. The Legacy and Turning Leaf neighborhoods in Winding Creek are in Clearcreek Township and attend Springboro Schools.

I drive by the area frequently, it's a nice area. The only things that really strikes me about it is that in the two and half years we've lived here, it has seemed that building has been very slow.

It's very close to the Main Street area that includes Kroger, with a new Kroger Marketplace currently being built in the same strip center, your obligatory suburban McDonalds, Wendys, Starbucks, Walgreens and the like. There is a great branch of the library just up the street.

I looked at some houses there a couple fo years ago. They seemed pretty nice. The above poster is correct about the school system/s, so know what you are getting into. The place does seem to be in a perpetual state of (slow) construction.

My 3 grandchildren are being raised In Centerville, and I am really impressed with the abundance of neighborhood parks, the cradle to college sports programs of all kinds for kids, and the fabulous school system.
The city seems to have a healthy vibrancy to it also.

SLCBakeaholic, we live in Washington Township (unincorporated area that shares services with Centerville) We MUCH prefer the township to Centerville, although both are nice places to live. The township has a good business base as well as some of the nicest homes in the area. The short explanation about townships is that they have no power to tax income like Ohio cities do. So property taxes are higher in the township. But we think it's a wash when it comes to your local tax money outlays... Personally, we're not fond of Centerville's government & mayor because they mounted an almost hostile effort to merge the city & township. About 95% of township residents and quite a few city residents saw it for the money grab that it was and roundly defeated the measure.

Centerville provides the schools and has city trash collection for city residents. Centerville also has it's own police department while the township contracts with the Mongomery County Sheriff for our police protection. The township provides fire & rescue services and a recreation center to both city & township.

Our realtor said there our new developments going up in Centerville/Washington Township, Bellbrook and Beavercreek. On our trip out in June, we'll check out all three areas. But, we're leaning towards the Centerville/Township area (that's where DH's work is).

The neighborhood by Ryan Homes we're looking at is in Washington Township but is part of the Centerville school district. We'll definitely have to double check though!! So thanks for the heads up!

Crew Chief- Did you build a new home in the Township then?

The builders are offering a lot of incentives right now. I guess that would be from the slow pace of construction. Maybe a plus, maybe not.

Thank you for all the helpful information!!

The Gay Pride Festival is the first week of June. Dont be scared because Dayton actually has one if the most family friendly Pride Festivals in the country....unlike Columbus.
