Well, regardless of legality, most rest stops late at night along some major interstates are difficult to approach with all of the trucks parked illegally.

Whenever we head south, most of our stops are either at Pilot or Loves. I for one can't wait for it to open.

So that oughta tell you there's a REAL shortage of truck parking in this country. But we don't have enough tax money these days. And trucking companies won't build terminals everywhere (even if the y could afford it) so the poor trucker is left trying to find parking anywhere he or she can; legal or otherwise...

Yep, the boss doesn't pay parking tickets. It's YOUR problem finding legal parking for HIS truck...

I watch Ice Road Truckers, so I know everything there is to know about trucking.

I listen to the Steve Somers show on WLW when I'm working. One constant complaint is legal parking.

Sorry, but this is awful. Dayton needs significant development on that site, not a generic, dime-a-dozen truck stop. Now, Dayton's most prominent exit with access to UD Arena, Welcome Stadium, UD, Brown Street and all the new development going on across the river is going to be fouled by the presence of a dirty truck stop choked with semis at all hours of the day/night. Not to mention the lot lizard prostitution and rampant drug abuse that goes on at these places coupled with the increased traffic ... that'll be a really nice face to present to the 13,000 Flyers fans who go to every game and all the visitors for NCAA and high school basketball tournaments. Look at how unappealing that Franklin exit is off I-75 and that's what we can expect in Dayton.

Sorry, this is not only underwhelming, it's a decided negative.

And what an opportunity for West Carrollton to really capitalize on their new exit by creating an attractive, pleasant and welcoming area full of nice hotels and restaurants and a stark contrast to the ugly Dayton exit a couple of miles north.

^ Well, there isn't exactly a tidal wave of new industry, nor prestigious entertainment complexes beating down the doors of Dayton-based commercial property brokers.

IE, don't hold your breath for Great Wolf Lodge or a casino to put dibs on Dayton land like this.

IMO this is probably the very best and highest use of this site possible at this time in the history of the region.

Supply and demand, man.

What's the rush? The city has stagnated for decades and that site west of the 75 has been an eyesore for years. Is there some urgency to put the first thing with a pulse on that site that we can? This is little more than a band-aid approach bringing a glorified gas station to one of Dayton's most prominent exits.

What happens if, in five years, there is a legitimate use for that site? Sorry, too late.
