Hi all--

Continuing my trend of posting about the positive things of this town, rather than saying this place sucks, it's terrible, and I'm leaving.

Asking a Mod to pin this.

Post any pictures you have of the city of Dayton and its surrounding area.

Downtown from the DAI

Another view from Deeds Point

This is from Arcade Seafoods at the corner of First and Ludlow. Sometimes, I can kid myself into thinking I live in a big city.

A very worthwhile thread.

I originally wanted to have the aviation thread pinned, and I was told only two topics could be pinned in a Cita-Data room. Since the second pinned topic space was being saved for something better, I definitely vote for this.

The view from Deeds Point is new to me, so thanks, youngun.

As for pictures in the Urban Ohio website, I know for a fact one nifty looking apartment house is listed for the wrong neighborhood. And, the one that was slighted needs nice things posted about it.

Why should someone have to go to Urban Ohio to see pictures?

I do, but not there.

You say you're from Chicago? I need some reference points in Chicago. The Chicago Public Library has already told me things like Chicago hasn't had a City Directory for something like 50+ years.

Because the pictures there are very professionally done and give a great glimpse of Ohio's cities and towns.

And are misplaced. The east side of Forest avenue is not a part of Five Oaks to the best of my knowledge.

Really? They have cataloged the better part of most significant cities in Ohio and you want to get picky over something like that? Forest Ave slices through several neighborhoods on the west side: Five Oaks, Riverdale, Grafton Hill, McPherson Town - just off the top of my head. Geez. Be an armchair critic all you want but don't bring up something that ridiculous.

I don't care what they have "catalogued"; I have repeatedly been taken to task, moved, etc., on the basis of "what does that have to do with Dayton?" You can't talk about anything unless you put Dayton in front of it, no matter how "general" the comment is, without someone saying something even though much of the time the postings are not about Dayton but suburban Dayton.

Well, if we are going to talk "Dayton," that which looks "picky" state-wide or even regionally is no longer "picky," especially if it includes a certain amount of basic long term misconception.

And, it's not "on the west side." It's on the north side.
