In the four months that I've been living in the Dayton area I've had a chance to walk just about every street in Oakwood & many of the streets directly around Oakwood. I haven't seen any blue hairs yet, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for this ancient wildlife species...:0)
It was a few decades ago, so take that observation for what it's worth. No place is static, and I'm not surprised that Oakwood has changed. It's a very picturesque town with a high walkability score, so I'm sure it has broad appeal today.

One thing about the sidewalks in Oakwood is that they are placed such that there is a buffer of grass and trees about 7-8' wide between the sidewalk and curb of the street.

This is really nice to keep the automobiles at a distance and to not have the hazard of stepping into the ramp where the driveways descend into the street.

There are many towns across the US where the sidewalk is flush with the curb ( which may or may not be a ramp, rather than a curb, where small rocks can enter this space and act like ball bearings and upend the unsuspecting pedestrian.

Any street with sidewalks like this or no sidewalks seem cheesy to me. Lots of Kettering has good sidewalks like Oakwood.

Same with Huber, especially on Troy coming into town
