For local news I've been looking at WKEF. The layout is something I can scan easily and quickly, and it seems to include all important stuff.

In short, I haven't hunted up the DDN or WHIO for months. The question is, am I missing something?

Well, I just checked out their website, and it looks clean and easy to navigate.

It also appears that, unlike their counterparts at DDN/WHIO/WDTN, WKEF editors can actually spell, punctuate, and compose a coherent English sentence, so no, you are not missing a thing.

Thank you for introducing me to WKEF.

Wait until their parent company, Sinclair, pushes more right wing tripe. That's the part that will sink their ship, eventually

As opposed to the left wing tripe of DDN?

Thanks for the heads-up on WKEF.

Left? The same company who runs Rush and the other talking heads? Clearly you have the wrong name

No. That is how they are. That is how almost all media is. That is why I don't watch or read just about anything from the media.

Which has nothing to do with the content.

All right now....

The government is officially partly shut down at this point.

In days of old, short of some unexplained serious matter like a big city suddenly disappearing with no known cause, the first (top) story in both early evening and late evening television news would have been something like: given a lack of agreement, the government will shut down at midnight. We will announce yes/no with details at midnight. The morning newspaper would have prepared two stories (one yes, one no),naturally with some generalizations in it, and the midnight presses would have been delayed until the right story was loaded. Deliveries would have been maybe a half-hour late.

This morning I looked in facebook, saw the announcement posted in a rather personal facebook newspaper, checked no less than WLWT-5, and saw nothing near the top. I then went to WKEF and while it wasn't #1, it was right below it.
