All right now.... government is officially partly shut down at this point. first (top) story in both early evening and late evening television news would have been something like: given a lack of agreement, the government will shut down at midnight. We will announce yes/no with details at midnight. The morning newspaper would have prepared two stories (one yes, one no),naturally with some generalizations in it, and the midnight presses would have been delayed until the right story was loaded. Deliveries would have been maybe a half-hour late.
