P.S. Your trees sound lovely, Camper. I've had many trees in the middle of my front yard over the past 30 years and all of them have died. My sister planted a large Bradford Pear Tree there in November 2011 and now it's dying too. I'm going to have it removed and either have sod put down or maybe try some succulents in a raised bed.

Hold on there, I'm only going to be 59! lol. Still got one more year before the big 6-0.

I know what you men about planting things and them not surviving. Between the heat and our hard ground we loose about half of what we plant/ Now the deer are coming out and eating what does survive!!

Sigh... I think all of our rain is gone for a long time. I better get use to see brown crunchy grass again. Oh well, was nice while it lasted. Hubby said he was getting tired of all the grass cutting anyway. Leaves more time for camping and playing in the river. Just trying to find a bright side, will take the rain anyway.

Sounds like you had a great day, Camper. You deserve it.

Today starts the next round of no-rain-at-all-for-Houston weeks. Most of the city got some rain over the weekend. Not my area, though. My yardman has come by each week for the last 3 weeks but my grass hasnt grown at all and there was no need for him to mow any of the 3 weeks.

I should probably water the yard but my right side is just too weak to haul out the hose. I have a water sprinkler system but it must have a leak because, whenever I use it, my water bill is $300+. I've often thought about having a company check it out but my yardman installed it and I didnt know that the city requires a permit (and inspection) for that. Last year I was told that the city will fine me and will probably even make me pull out the whole system for not having a permit.
