I think of Bob all the time, Flamingo. I still cant believe that we wont see him posting here. Camper hasnt been here since early November so I wonder if she even knows about Bob.
Thank goodness for all the work that MPowering1, peachrose and Littlelu do in searching and posting the freebies. But I'll never stop missing Bob.
Be careful in the snow and ice. What a blessing that you apparently have strong bones. Our trash bins are like yours and they're hard to roll even just on wet cement. I cant imagine rolling one on ice.
I earned my good merit badge today!! Very elderly lady across the street (she's not usually here at this house, she has another South of here) - she is here because she had fallen on ice (and her daughter brought her up) - she asked me to take her to get her hair done (you know: the wash, set, dryer, big pouffy bouffant thing...) - I said I would (we were also going to go to the local grocery store) - we had lunch as well after the hair appt. - what a LONG day........... I am proud of myself for being so patient (and biting my tongue) - giving myself brownie points today! On another note, just talked to Mom (and she's 80! will be 81 next month) - she works p/t for a nursing home and accompanies people to dr. appts. etc. - she had a day pretty much like mine. Mom said we both need a beer! LOL (Mom isn't really a drinker and she doesn't even have any at her house) - gotta love Mom.
What a kindness you performed for that elderly lady, Flamingo. And give thanks that your mom is able to perform kind acts too (and talk about needing a beer).
Want to hear something strange? Two weeks ago I had a dream about my old boss from my first full-time job after high school (a "few" years ago, LOL) - I know my best friend still in Pa. had kept in touch w/him all these yrs. - she stayed in the job for yrs. after I'd left. Anyway, I sent her a quick email and told her how odd it was that I'd dream about him (honestly hadn't even thought about him in many, many yrs. and I don't usually even remember dreams). Anyway, she said she didn't know how he was as she hadn't gotten a Christmas card from them this yr. - then she calls me yesterday and asks me if I'm sitting down (uhoh) - says she just found out he'd passed away Thurs. morning and his wife later that same day! (and they were both at home) - this was a week after my dream. We don't know the cause(s) but she's hoping to find out - she also asked me not to dream about her. Creepy!
Wow, the temp has been below freezing for almost 24 hours now. The high today was 28 and the low tonight is expected to be 19, which will feel like 9. I cant recall the last time Hosuton's temps were below freezing for this long. It's been sleeting/snowing since early this morning and is still doing it. All the schools and most of the businesses in the Hopuston area were closed today and will be closed tomorrow. From what I read, even McDonald's and other fast-food places were closed today and tomorrow.
Those of you up north will probably laugh at this -- but Houston isnt accustomed to this kind of weather. Our city has no salt for overpasses and drivers just dont know how to handle ice. I wish I could put this cold weather in a jar and open it when the temp is 100 this summer.
Stay warm! I don't imagine many folks in Houston have winter coats, gloves, etc. - let alone snow shovels, scrapers, ice melt...
We're supposed to get "a dusting to about 1-2" - I'm shooting for a dusting
