Has anyone ever read anything by JA Konrath? He's offered other freebies and his books have a lot of positive reviews. The one posted today has more than a thousand reviews with a rating of 4.5 stars.

I know JA is a he because he and author Barry Eisler created quite a sensation a few years ago when both decided they were done with publishing houses and decided to start self-publishing. The interviews can be found online and are interesting reads if you're an author.

I'm not a fan of horror either but I believe his other books that were freebies were suspense, not horror. I should have downloaded those when I saw them but sometimes I'm in such a hurry to post and get back to work I forget to come back for hours and by then it's forgotten. Old age!

I read Konrath's "Origin" a couple of years ago and enjoyed it.
I read a lot of horror books and prefer the subtle ones.
