I've been real careful surfing around due to not wanting a nasty virus until I get this problem dealt with.

So what does everyone have planned for the weekend?

I'm going to work till noon tomorrow and then go pick up my grandson for the weekend.
Why don't you go out to the AVG site? They offer it free for awhile. I have been there and done that with McAfee, etc., and I have done AVG for a few years now.....they're tops in my book!

Work's been a real bear this week. I finally heard the dreaded 'F' word at work. I may lose 22 paid work days next fiscal year to being Furloughed. I guess I'm lucky it hasn't happened before this. I guess I'm lucky to have a job.

Blah. I need more brandy.
Love the moose, Gand, love the moose! It's the only thing that has made me chuckle in days.

I have a HUGE house and don't go into every room every day......I went over to a fireplace in the living room on Wednesday night to wind a mantle clock.....my feet went squish, squish in the carpet.....flood! We have a lot of crows in this area and they damage the lawn....I doesn't matter what we do, nothing deters them.....(they tear out big chunks looking for grubs......it's as if a golfer had been practicing). I have a nice yard and I get really upset when they do this.....we have tried EVERYTHING. Months ago, I bought 2 items called 'scarecrow' at the hard ware store. One for each front lawn.....they are kind of like a rainbird sprinkler with a sensor on it...they head looks like 'Heckel and Jeckyl' (remember those two crows?). Anyway, when a rabbit, (don't get me started on the damage they do), crow, etc., gets on the lawn the scarecrow sprays water for 3 seconds. The water at the spigot has to be on all the time....thus, making pressure at the house.....well, the side lawn is hooked to a big, red, industrial hose that contrctors use..(never a problem with the pressure on that one)...the main front lawn is hooked to a regular hose...anyway, lots of pressure, lots of leakage and it decided to soak the wall and come into the house..... I've been through bigger floods, but still, this one is not fun. I jerked the carpet back, (perfect, just 2 years old, not a spot on it), tore out quite a bit of padding, sucked as much water up as I could with a shop vac and had to end up calling a flood guy the next day.... Our deductible is high so we are out of pocket on this one since it's not super-major. The walls are stained in a few spots, so I'll need to paint..... There are big fans, an enormous dehumidifier sucking water out of thin air, the area is sheeted off with huge plastic stuck to the ceilings, the heater is on in that area and there is a huge hepa filter in there so that it won't stink in the end like mildew. I had to cancel the open house..(and this was the first time I had agreed to have it both days)..all the furniture is moved out of that area, it looks like heck.... The flood guys come once a day to measure the water in the walls, etc., and things are looking good..(thank gawd I told the flood guy to not cut out the paneling and jerk the insulation out---let's just try to dry it all first. If he had cut it out, it would dry faster, but I'd have to have a dry wall guy here and then possibly replace molding that would get ruined...)...they should take out their equipment on Monday.....and then I have to calk and paint (hopefully just touch up) a room that hasn't been painted in 15 years, (lots of custom molding in that room, too,and some of the wood has shrunk so that'll have to be fixed), and then call the carpet guy..... And when the floods guys were here setting up the stuff my dryer croaked 100%! So, on top of the flood, I am out money for a new dryer which will arrive this afternoon. I am so depressed with all of this! Anyway, thanks for reading.....what a pain!

Anyway, it'll be perfect when it's finished, but why, of why do I have to deal with these damned crows? We have a really nice lawn and they just love it....other neighbors get attacked but not as much as our lawn. They have cost me so much money!

I put out grub killer all the time.....the 'scarecrow' was the best so far, but now I've got other damage......sigh.....

And as far as the rabbits go.......well, that's another HUGE story for sure........ We used to have a lot of coyotes, but too many new houses have scared them off......

Okay, so the new dryer was just delivered....it's going to be running until midnight, trust me! Lately, every once in awhile, I see small twigs outside right by the kitchen slider.......I just think they were blown there by the gardener's blower thingie or else a bird carried them there on the way to a nest and dropped them???? Well, the guy starts to take the old dryer out and he kind of makes a funny sound...(laundry room is upstairs)...I tell him that I am getting a wet rag to get out all the dust back there before he fills up the spot again.....WELL, the little, hooded vent leading outside (that is hooked up to the silver curly tube thingie), is loaded with dryer lint, zillions of twigs, and of course, when he took off the silver curly tube thingie, they all came out onto the floor.......the bird was trying to build a nest in the hole.....even with all that heat coming out of the dryer all the time.......sheesh! There are at least 4 cups of twigs, lint, etc......I AM SURPRISED THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE A FIRE! The guy had never, ever seen this and all he does is deliver washers and dryers all day long......I had never seen it before either! And no, this isn't why my dryer broke......it was making huge noises and the last guys out said it couldn't be fixed (it was only @ 3 years old and has been making huge noises for the last year), and to use it as long as it worked and then toss it.....

I just love the pics that you guys put on here! The head looks like them and in fact, there is a warning in the directions that say don't put the decals on the face if you want to keep the song birds around.........well, I put the decals on, but they fade over time with the dew, rain, sun, etc....

I like the CC cleaner a lot. I've used it for years.

Yeah....don't you like the way these companies have taken real advantage of a bad economy?? Sure, those of us who have jobs are the lucky ones....but you can go to work feeling a whole new atmosphere. (More like the Salt Mines............less like the job we used to love.)

The overall attitude is that if anyone doesn't like the changes....they can leave. Makes you feel super valuable as an employee.

The whole problem is that I CAN'T download anything. I deleted something somewhere and now can't even download a virus protection. I've been tippy-toeing around the net all week holding my breath that I didn't run into a nasty virus.

It's OK....my son will find the problem tomorrow. If worse gets to worse, he'll simply reload Windows 7 and I'll start all over. No biggie. This is why I don't keep a bunch of personal pictures and stuff on my computer. There is nothing to lose with reloading it at any time. I learned that one the hard way.

Hope he is able to help.......

Somebody attacked my girl's laptop earlier in the week and she has virus protection on there and scans all the time.....it sent 2 different emails out in rapid succession.........(heck, she was asleep at the time if that tells you anything)...... They had a web site address in them which was a Canadian medical site that sold Viagra, etc..... (We sent an apology email out to several people......including 2 college counselors.....sheesh!)
