You know, when I first moved to Orlando, I was looking for an address and ended up going into the AIDS Charity office located downtown to ask for directions. This sweet young man in there not only helped me find what I was looking for, but offered to pray for me and my family. In the course of our conversation, I found out all the services they offer and how they were so very low on funds.
So, when I see AIDS charity things online, he is who I think of. He was so frail and ill, but such a sweet man. He left a real lasting impression on me....and changed the way I previously judged things. I love when things happen and my heart changes. This is when we grow as people.
When I lived in NJ, i was involved with volunteering care at a facility for "boarder babies".
My ex still does. It's heart breaking & rewarding. Thanks, GloryB.
What is a "boarder baby"?
1. An infant abandoned to a hospital because the mother is unable to care for him or her. Many infants born with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or to a mother with HIV infection or infants delivered to mothers who are drug users are boarder babies.
2. An infant, often the offspring of drug addicts or AIDS victims, who remains for months, sometimes up to a year, at the hospital where he or she was born, waiting for placement in a home.
