Anyone know anything about the DPAA? They are on North Dupont Highway in New Castle.

Just wanted to see if they have any kind of a reputation, good or bad, before I go to look around at what they have.

As an ex auto tech, any auction is a crapshoot. I don't know anything about DPAA but used to frequent Manheim PA. It is always best to have someone along that knows cars. Also, knowing what kind you are looking for helps. There is a lot of things people can do to make a car run good for a little while like brake fluid in the transmission to stop various problems, for a short time. Then poof, no gears. Even looking the car over will not show all possible problems. I see a lot of broke down cars on the highway with temp tags.
Go forth with open eyes.

I agree with daFrogman. As a former employee of Manheim and DE was part of my territory, I'm know a little about the auction business and I'm familiar with the DE auction. First of all, its a very small auction so choices will be limited. About the auction business in general, there are a lot of dealers out there whose main business plan is to "polish a turd" so to speak. Your usually not going to get a chance to do a carfax check or any other kind of due diligence. I've seen a lot of what appeared to be "cherry" rides that came from Katrina or worse. The other side of the auction business, and more likely, are new car dealers who are dumping the trades they take in. As always buyer beware.

wasn't it you with the car fraud over craigs list ? If I were you, I really would go and see a dealer.
I personally have no clue about all the technical stuff (but after one second I know, if I find a certain car pretty or not, haha), so I ALWAYS take someone with me, who is knowledgeable.

good luck on your car hunt !

I agree with the other posters; it's buyer beware. I know a lot about cars and what to look for (my dad has managed a dealership forever), and even I would be leery of buying a car at auction. I remember that my dad said that Manheim had some good cars at times (he used to bid there as a dealer), but I don't know anything about DPAA. And it's been awhile since my father dealt with Manheim...
