DH and I will be making our first trip to look at 55+ communities in Delaware. Price is an object, but I want to see Southern Meadows and Nobles Pond. I want an friendly community with lots of activities, including clubs, classes and trips. Stores, banking and other necessities should be nearby. A least a couple cats must be allowed. Any suggestions?

I'd be interested in knowing how you narrowed your visits to those two communities, since they are not at all similar (except for being 55+ communities).
Southern Meadow is a manufactured home community and you will rent your lot (Leasehold).
Nobles Pond consists of stick built homes, and you will own your lot (Fee Simple Interest).
Both are friendly communities with on-going activities. Nobles Pond is closer to shopping and is located in North Dover. Southern Meadow is located south of Dover (Magnolia) in a more rural area. You will be impressed with Nobles Pond clubhouse; It's awesome! Bottom line, you get what you pay for.

Enjoy the search. I have narrowed my choices to the 2 you mentioned, plus Barclay Farms, which is in Camden. I loved the location there, about 1 mile to Route 13 with all the stores and restaurants, plus the casino about 3 miles away.
Nobles Pond allows 2 pets, so you would be all right with your cats. I know I could not move anywhere I could not bring my cat. What state are you in now?

We just moved to Spring Arbor in Middletown . So far we love it . There are many activities, trips etc. Everyone here is very, very friendly and made us feel very welcome when we moved here. There is a Super Walmart , Kohl's, Lowe's , Home Depot , Dollar Tree, some small boutiques, too many banks and restaurants to list. I do not think there is a limit on cats because one of my friends has 3 cats.

I subscribe to Delaware Today magazine, a monthly publication with a cover price about $4.95, but only about $12 a year to subscribe. Just got a great deal - 3 years for less than $30. They also have a website, Delawaretoday.com. Also you can check the daily news from the Wilmington area on Delawareonline.com. You can see the weather, what is going on in the area, festivals, crime, too. It helps to let you get a feel for the area, since you are a fair distance away and probably can't get down there very often.
