I'm not making excuses for anyone. I just think that sometimes, it's a challenge to be able to be "up to speed" on the all the various conversations happening here. I'm sure that since you've shared your feelings with us, members will be sensitive to what you've said and perhaps go that extra step to try to respond to your messages.

This is true Charley. Seems to be a lot of criss cross traffic the past few days and I think I have missed a few post myself.
It is like looking in 10 different directions at once

Sharing how we feel does help otherwise, people don't have a clue.

We are all lucky that Charley has taken the time to do the research and I do thank him for that.
Health care is an important issue and I have heard health care horror stories in DE too.
The conclusion I have come to is that sort of thing can happen anywhere at anytime.

charley, your statistics have helped clear my mind and realize that it is not just De that has the horror stories.
So far, my personal experiences have been very good. Of course, I have nothing serious going on but I found the health care professionals to be thorough, patient and experienced.
Now, the doctor I had seen in the past is no longer with the group I go to. So I had to choose another from the group.
Will report back on my experience with Tutsi Tonaway. (doctors name).
He is the leader of the pack so we shall see how well he leads.

I'm glad I was able to help a little, but I also need to share with you and everyone that horror stories happen at every hospital. In a prior post, I gave you the example of New York Hospital, which in many ways is the creme de la creme in New York ... and their negligence killed Andy Warhol. I could tell you a few horror stories about my former hospitals also, but I don't think I want to really do that.

I think it's like anything else in this world. Caviat emptor - latin for "Let the buyer beware". My bottom line ... so far ... is that I don't think Delaware hospitals are any worse than in other states.

As a side note, given what I know about a few New York hospitals which shall remain nameless (and should close today before they do any more damage) the ones in Delaware seem better.

Now why didn't I check out this thread first today? Such really kind, wise, and thoughtful posts from a number of you, but I'm out of time, probably until late Sunday!

Meanwhile, thank you so much, Charley, Peeweeaz,
Elizamary, and Mary.

Lori..........You are so quite welcome

Had a dentist appointment this morning. I had not known anything about any dentist in this area and picked him out of the yellow pages.
Another good experience. His name is Dr. Wayne Thomas and I will continue to see this dentist.
He is not all fancy and elaborate like some dentist but a good old fashion dentist that doesn't over charge.
I felt good as soon as I walked in the office. The office help seemed happy and people were smiling so that was the first sign that it was okay.

Wow. When I mentioned about needing a general practitioner, GYN for my wife, cardiologist and orthopedist, I forgot all about a dentist. Thanks for the feedback Eliza. One more small task on my list.

Wow, elizamary, do you think he'd do good with kids (with issues, of course)??? I need to get us in somewhere soon, but have been riding the fence about the boys going to a pediatric dentist or a regular one. We don't even want to talk about my mouth!!!

Anyway, I have an appt with Dr. Tonwe the end of the month... I meant to tell you at lunch the other day about the other dr. If you go see Dr. T before I do, let me know. And I will do the same.

Mary

Glad I could help. I was quite pleased. Of course, nothing but the usual cleaning and check up.
Go for the filling and drilling in Nov.........Ouch!

BTW......Who did you figure for teh GYN? I found Dedicated to woman and was pleased. Of course, again, nothing major just the check up.

Hey Mary.......Yes I do think he would be good with kids. The woman that cleaned my teeth had 10 years of drawings from kids whose teeth she cleaned.
While she is cleaning the teeth, you look at the ceiling at a german shepard saying "open wide".
I would definately say he would be good with kids.
When my girls were little, I took them to a pediatric dentist. He was a good dentist and great with kids. Each room was decorated differently. One was a jungle room, another a disco room and so on.

that would be your choice as to where you would want to take them. Perhaps he could recommend a pediatric dentist.

I have an appointment with Dr T tomorrow. Dr Ali is no longer there. She is doing her residence. so I thought I would go with the big guy. I have never met him or her? But will let you know tomorrow what I think. Lets keep our fingers crossed

Oh I didn't figure anyone yet. I'm just keeping a list of all the little things that will need to be done when the time comes. I'm a notorious list maker and finding the doctors were on the list. Now finding the dentist is on the list as well ... but with the recommendation of Dr. Thomas.

I always feel that if I have an item "on my list", then I don't have to keep thinking about it. It's safe on paper and I can find it whenever I need it.
