I know that Rehoboth is a family beach. Bethany too.

How would you describe Lewes? And Dewey? I know one of those beaches tends to draw the rowdy, college crowd, but I'm not sure which. I don't want to pass on bad info. to friends.

Thanks!

Alley

It's going to take more than one word. The actual Lewes beach is on Delaware Bay. Very calm and slopes slowly going out.
The Dewey beach is like the others safe, clean and guarded. The rowdy activities generally start after dark on weekends.

Lewes is quaint, Dewey is fun for the young and the young at heart.
Rehoboth is a family beach, and a gay/lesbian beach. Odd combination but it works.

Thanks! And what would you say about Bethany?

Which is the beach that draw the partying/college kids?

Thanks again,

Alley

Dewey is for the drinking/partying and often younger crowd. Rehoboth--families, gay/lesbian, retirees...
Bethany--families and retirees, definitely not a wild crowd. This location also tends to draw in the affluent DC area crowd.
Lewes is mostly families and retirees.

My favorite is Bethany--so long as it's not June-September.

I know we're an oddity. Hubby and I enjoy Dewey Beach.....The Rudder, Bottle & Cork, concerts (especially Little Feat at the B & C) and all that goes with summertime and the beach. We ride the Jolly Trolly back and forth to Rehoboth, and when we spend the night....it's usually in Dewey. We're in our mid 70's and are freebirds.

We called it when we visited Dewey!!! My youngest sister (24...just post college partying days) said "I can tell this is the party beach...this is where I'll be"!!! I loved them all, but as for me...I'll be at Lewes & Rehoboth with the families and retirees... :-D

We are with you and as soon as DH and I get there we will be visiting DB. I don't dislike the partying crowd. In fact, we avoid it only by default, they get started at midnight when we are looking to begin to wind it down!!!!
