It is six weeks until my wife and I arrive to the Dover area from Germany. We will be getting a house in the Caesar Rodney school district. So we will be living in Dover, Camden-Wyoming or Magnolia. I have a few questions for the board.

What do you recommend for an internet provider. I see Comcast is the main one in the area. Is there a good local muni for DSL or something else I am missing?

I think we are going with Verizon for our wireless as most of our family members use Verizon and I was happy with them before I moved to Germany. Is reception and and data reliable? Does AT&T have better reception and data speeds?

I plan on going with DirecTv due to Sunday Ticket and the Big 10 Network. If those aren't offered that company is not an option.

If any craft beer drinkers read this what is the best liquor store to shop at? I see that in Delaware alcohol can only be bought at liquor stores and isn't available at grocery stores, gas stations, Wal-Mart etc.

What is the restaurant scene like for local places? I will eat just about anything.

TIA for replies.

I can't help you too much, since we haven't been living here too long ourselves, but I'll tell you what I know so far.
We are in the Camden/Dover area. We do have Comcast, but also may switch to Direct TV, which is available, for the Sunday Ticket. We have had a few issues with Comcast, have to reboot sometimes, but it hasn't been too bad. I'm not sure if there is a local DSL, but I don't think so. We also have Verizon. We have not had any problems with it since we've been here.

I don't drink beer, but my husband does. I'm a wine drinker myself but we do buy other liquor also. We've priced items at a good number of stores in the area, and find that Mr. B's in Dover seems to have the best prices.

As for restaurants on Route 13 in Dover you can find just about anything. A lot of chain restaurants, Olive Garden, Friday's, Mexican, Applebee's, etc. Cheddar's, which has been in Dover less than a year is pretty good American Food.
There are a few diners. Neighbors have told us that there are a few better restaurants in the nearby towns but we haven't eaten at any yet.

I hope I have helped you a little. I'm sure there are others out there that can give you more detailed answers.
Welcome to Dover !

FYI..

Wireless here refers to wireless internet (802.11.)

Comcast bought out the largest cable providers, so you'd be pressed to find smaller cable data providers.

Verizon is a good pick for cellular service.

Also, you'll need to eat just about anything. Sorry Dover :/
