I will be moving to the Newark, DE area for work in the next few months and I am looking for advice on apartments, town homes or rental houses in VERY safe neighborhoods near the Christiana Mall area. Must be pet friendly as I will be bringing my cat. Ideally neighborhood will also be culturally diverse as I am white and my husband is black and we are looking for an area where we will fit in.

I would also like general information on quality of life, gotcha's that I might not be expecting, and good primary care physicians. I have read several threads and it sounds like taxes are fairly low but rent and utilities can be a bit high. Any and all advice, information and links are greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jess. I have looked at them. I will definitely be stopping by when I visit. Are there any other neighborhoods you would recommend as well as any to be sure to avoid?

Thanks again Jess. I have done so much googling and read so many reviews my head is spinning. St. Andrews and The Reserve at Becks Pond are also on my list. I will have to take a look at Rockwood.

If you consider Barrett's Run area, you can get a cheaper deal
if you can rent a townhouse from an individual owner versus the
big property management place.

In addition, when you move in, make sure to document everything!

Include photos with the date written on a piece of paper viewable
in the photo next to various items to document the condition.

Also, put everything in writing- request for maintenance etc.
