Delaware Today is the local magazine. It's Wilmington-based but does try hard to cover other parts of the state.

This is this year's article on Where to Live in Delaware: Great Places to Live in Delaware - Delaware Ultimate Guide - Annual 2014 - Delaware

Here's the one for 2013: Where to Live in Delaware 2013: The State’s Best Neighborhoods and Towns - Delaware Today - March 2013 - Delaware

And the ones for 2011: Best Places to Live - Delaware Today - March 2011 - Delaware and 2010: Great Places to Live - Delaware Today - March 2010 - Delaware

I'm sure there must be one for 2012, but I'm just not finding it.

Anyway, thought it might be helpful for those of you who come here looking for both general info and specifics on particular towns or communities.

Do you know the name of the community/neighborhood for that stone house that appears in
the first picture when you click on the link for the 2014 guide.

What a gorgeous home!

Most "downstaters" don't acknowledge Delaware Today Magazine as a "local" magazine, even though they are in most of our doctor/dentist offices. Delaware Today has always been an upstate magazine. If you browse the articles and those advertising there, it's self-explanatory.

Southern Delaware was my magazine, but I think they went under.
Delaware Beach Life is a great magazine, as well as Outdoor Living and Coastal Delaware. I can relate much more to these magazines, as I am a lifelong Kent County resident.

Well, yeah, obviously I wasn't recommending the magazine to locals, regardless of where they live. But particularly Kent County, which so often gets shortchanged in any kind of statewide wrapup coverage. There's usually a nod to Dover, but not much else. We who live in and around Delaware all know Delaware Today's strong points and shortcomings.

I was simply suggesting that the annual articles about places to live all across Delaware might be helpful to those who are just beginning to research different areas of the state. Delaware Today does devote some significant reportorial resources to the "where to live" articles. I think that makes the overviews they provide a little more authoritative overall. First-hand experience can't be beat, but from my observations over the past several months here, there's excellent first-hand experience among many contributors but it's limited to an area or two or at most a few different places around the state for each person who posts.

So kind of you to list all the other publication options for people who want to know more about living in the area. Don't know that they'd be helpful in choosing a new community, but they are all interesting. Delaware Beach Life has some fabulous photography! I didn't remember that it covers Kent County much, but I don't see every issue.

Southern Delaware -- do you mean Southern UDelaware? If so, at least the back issues are available online. UD Office of Communications & Marketing

Thanks Pocopsonite, for listing these magazines and trying to give people a little insight and help during their Delaware search.
