I would suggest reading the classified ads on line for the Cape Gazzette. The paper covers the southern DE area. Over time you will get an idea of what types of jobs are available and how often there is a need for a particular skill.

It has been my experience that Monster and Career Builder never have much in the way of jobs posted for this particular area. The majority of job opportunities seem to be posted in the local paper.

Why not consider a profession, instead of a J-O-B ? You are SO young, and the sky is the limit. There's a shortage of real estate appraisers here, if that might interest job-seekers. Work under an apprentice for 2-3 years, take the required courses, learn the business, then climb the ladder to operating your own business. Real estate appraisal fees range from $350-$425 each. You must be observant, detail oriented, and self motivated. Do the math....complete 4-5 appraisals per week, minimum. Working as an apprentice, you probably would be paid 1/2 the fee of an appraisal; but it's well worth it to learn the business.....a profession you can work in for many, many years.

I remember reading that sometime last year, Delaware recently had a new national
park declared at Woodlawn (Northern DE)). Its over 1000 acres of outdoor goodness.

I dug a little bit and found an article.

Delaware Gets Its First National Monument

The lower wages should be somewhat offset by lower cost of living and taxes. Since you sound outdoorsy, you would enjoy the parks and bicycling thru some of them is probably very pleasant. I just read in a magazine that the Good Morning America on-air crew were discussing their July 4th plans and Hoda Kotb said she would be in Delaware where "you are watching the waves crashing on the beach, then a little while later there are amazing fireworks". I got the impression she travels there frequently and why not - the beaches are beautiful. I loved the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk and seeing dolphins just offshore.

beachliz and pete lynch please help! I need answers in Sussex County. I added a thread but no one is responding and I dont know how to use this yet to find the right place to ask others. We are looking in DE with Insight homes and do not know the area. 400,000 is what we can spend or more, like their homes but keep hearing about lawsuits and that the owner has a bad reputation not paying contractors being suied and that their homes have problems. I do not see reviews like this online but we did hear this from a few people when we were there last. On our next visit we will talk with more people but until then what do you know about them?

Thank you in advance!!!!

Sorry, but I don't know anything about them, other than the radio spots they once did. I have heard the rumors ( it's a small state) but I can neither substantiate nor dispute them.

Sticking my neck out, to say, I'd never stick my neck out and bad-mouth a company or builder on a public forum. I've been in Delaware forever, work here, and have formed my own personal opinions about such issues. No,

Sorry, I don't know much about Insight either. I've also heard rumors as well, but I cannot say whether they are true or not either....good luck.
