Dont drive aggressively. I dont think you get jail time in Virginia.Maybe for wreckless driving. I know its a hefty ticket for Virginia residents if you are caught speeding.

Yep it is. Can't remember exactly but I got a ticket last June on the Chespeake bay bridge. Cop came out of nowhere. I do have a heavy foot and since that day have really tried to watch.
The cop told me that Va, MD and DE share information and all help each other watch out for speeders.

Has anyone ever been stopped for speeding on I 495? I usually make good time thru there on my commute to/from DE/PA, but if I go with the flow, I am way over the speed limit without even realizing it. Have seen groups of motorcyclists that have to be going well over 100mph. Scares the ---- out of me. Is it because there is no place for the authorities to hide?

Hi Pa,
I have seen people getting stopped on 495. Not often but nevertheless, I have.
I find myself flying by too but really try to watch now.

Guess they're never around when you need them. I actually thought that stretch was some sort of raceway

speeding 90 or more in Northern VA is almost guaranteed jail time. unless you've got a great lawyer who's a buddy with the judge that happens to be on the bench that day.

and it's like a class 7 felony. it used to be a serious misdemeanor, but now they jacked it up to a low felony. i think VA did this in order to deport more foreign nationals under the Patriot Act since it's now a felony.

i think aggressive driving is a more serious violation since it requires multiple violations (including wreckless driving) to be deemed as aggressive driving/road rage.
