They lied to me!! Well...not really a lie, but my sister and rdlr both conveniently 'forgot' to tell me how blasted humid it can get here in the summer! I think we might become the first Delaware snowbirds. Go back to NY for July and August. Ok, you all know that won't happen. I guess I have to put my big boy shorts on and just get used to it! Small price to pay for a great place to live.

We actually didn't find it much different than L.I. but it does last a little longer. We have had a relatively hot summer so far, at least to me.

NYJoe, until the past two winters, which were a) incredibly snowy and then b) incredibly cold, I was telling my husband I could live through the winters in this area; it was the summers I needed to get away from. (I wanted to explore the Poconos, thinking the mountains would surely be cooler. But apparently they're also still pretty humid.)

We're a couple hours north of you, but honestly, this is one of the nicer summers we've had in years. And our weather usually tracks pretty closely to southern Delaware's. I hope it keeps on the way it's been -- I'm actually enjoying our deck, which has been difficult in some of the most humid years.

What parts of Delaware are you guys in? I know it's not a big state, but you can be a few hours away and make a difference in the weather?

I am now a happy resident of Harrington(will be full time by end of summer).

Note to Phillies Phan, if you want to argue the whole southern state/not southern state subject, please start your own thread for your debate. Don't hijack this one.

All this humidity thing was a ploy set up by a few of us to discourage the rest of the world from crossing the borders in to Delaware. "Stick" with us, and we'll lift the humidity soon, once "they" lose interest. Just relax and enjoy that delicious, cooling, strawberry-poppy seed salad in your beautiful home!

Yep, the humidity has always been an issue with me in the forty years I've lived here.....especially trying to run in it. I haven't been able to run this summer though so it's just been an issue when I go walking or biking. Luckily, it only lasts for a few months and we tend to have lovely fall weather--low humidity, lots of sunshine, and temps in the 60's-70's. However, that Delaware humidity can be killer.....the husband and I often take summer vacations in southeast and southwest Florida (just went to Miami Beach) and it's really humid there too, but it's not any worse than here! Delaware was actually MORE humid than Florida when we were there this month. The only factor that makes the Florida humidity more unbearable is the brighter sunshine. Well, I guess tolerating sticky Delaware makes Florida that much more bearable for us. They get stuck with the stickiness for like eight months out of the year though.....yuck.
