Hi Everyone... I am thinking of moving to Wilmington and would like some honest advice from locals on whether it would be a good fit for me or not. I am from upstate NY and am looking for a milder warmer climate that is close to a moderate sized city. I love nature, parks, outdoor recreation, and also shopping, museums, nightlife, and culture.

I have heard that the schools aren't that great, and that there is some crime (where isn't there?) I would love to live in the downtown area so I could walk to parks, shops, restaurants. I am not looking for a major city, just a place that has a lot of options.

Any info would help a lot! I will be looking for a teaching position so will be surviving on that salary. Rent approx in the 800's area.

Thanks again!

Thanks Wilman. Would you consider the downtown area being a good place to live that is walkable to shops and restaurants? What are the suburbs of downtown like?
