Hello I looked at buying a house on 2 Monticello Blvd in the Jefferson Park neighborhood New Castle Delaware. The neighborhood looked nice and quite but it was the morning hours on a work day. I have never been to Delaware and do not know anyone in Delaware. I am escaping the high property tax in jersey but I do want to stay close to Delaware Memorial Bridge so I can get home to see family etc. I am from Central Jersey (Neptune) . Is the area a good area to live or any other places better. I am divorced my 3 kids are in college in North Jersey. I just want peace and quite Any advice?

Can't comment on that specific neighborhood, other than to tell you we drive from Middletown through New Castle within a few blocks of it on Route 9 (Wilmington Rd) heading for the Delaware Memorial Bridge to visit family in NJ. Haven't noticed anything that seems concerning. But then a pass through in the late morning or early afternoon on a weekday doesn't tell much of a story. You should probably visit a couple of more times at different times to get a better feel for it.

Also, you may or may not be aware that effective August 1st the transfer tax on real estate in Delaware is going up to 4%. The highest in the country according to a local news report. If you're seriously considering a move to Delaware, now's the time. Things are going to get a little more expensive in a few weeks.
