That's putting the horse behind the cart. That should have been built into giving out development and building permits.

Yeah, great idea. Let's make it a real us-against-them atmosphere. Since I'm one of "them," I'll tell you "they" didn't cause the mess. You can blame your lousy legislators for that, and our lousy legislators for pricing us out of our lifelong homes. Good to know (as if I didn't) what "real Delawareans" think.

I do understand RDLR's thoughts. DH and I are childless, unfortunately and we paid through the nose for school taxes on Long Island and took nothing out of that money. So I understand where she is coming from. I was an avid supporter of the schools and often campaigned for the budgets when others in my shoes were dead set against them. I was well know as a friend of the schools and my input was often solicited at school board meetings because I was seen as such. That support and it was considerable as when we left in 2013 my school tax were just under $6,000 and then you had to add the general on top of that. However, the thought of exempting us and those like us from paying school taxes never crossed my mind.

Soooo....tax the seniors, you mean? Hmmm....well that's ONE way to keep us out, I suppose. But keep in mind that perhaps the new hospital (which your desperately need in terms of modernism and reputation) would not be going up were it not for the interlopers.

While a new hospital will have relatively little impact on me as I live about 30 minutes away from the new hospital, I do welcome any additional facility. That said, I am concerned about attracting additional physicians to the area. Beebe is begging for additional doc's and specialists and while there are more coming, they are not coming in droves, at least as far as I am aware.

I can't get a regular primary care appointment in less than 4 months advance. I'd rather they focus on that.

I'm sorry you're experiencing that. I've seen some ads in the Delaware State News lately of new primary physician offices opening, advertising "now accepting new patients". Maybe it's just the Dover area; I don't know. Where are you looking for primary care?

I'm not concerned, but encouraged by new doctors moving into this area from the big cities. In my business, I see contracts of sale, buyers' names, and where they're coming from. My personal primary care doctor is under the Bay Health umbrella, came from Jefferson Hospital/Philly and lives in Milford. He tells me that word has spread throughout the health community, and his doctor friends are looking around Kent and Sussex Delaware. Not only do we need experienced, professional doctors, but they are contributing much to Delaware's budget short-fall problems.
