There's the original SLD and the copy cat LSD (like the drug). See the Slower, Lower, Delaware thread.

Now that a few months have passed, I thought I'd check back for an update. Is the clubhouse open? Are there any planned activities taking place?

Yes the club house is open and so is the small gym. They are working on finishing the pool now.

Hi.
We just started looking into relocating to DE. I wonder where you finally settled and why. I'd welcome any insights you gained from your search/recommendations. Thank you.

We are still in the Hudson Valley at this time. We liked many of the planned communities we visited, but lack of mass transit was a big reason to stay where we are for the time being. No sales tax is a nice "draw", but a limit on tax-free retirement income was also a factor we felt needed more consideration. Another $ item on our checklist to be considered for a future move is the difference in school and property taxes and other fees which vary by community. At this point, we also are not ready to leave the geographic beauty of the area we are in. We plan on researching Eastern PA for a future move. Best of luck to you!

No, school taxes in Delaware vary by school district, not community. Don't forget the senior citizen discount. But, if you love the beauty of your area, don't move and be sorry later....just my unauthorized opinion.
