I have no idea. There are too many people. I've always wanted to move to the country and eat a lot of peaches.

Philly pales in comparison to Chicago and NYC; they are the best US cities.
I am looking in Delaware because I have lived in an expensive, exciting city.
Getting closer to retirement so my priorities have changed.

But I really appreciate being close enough to visit DC, Boston and NYC.

Well, Chicago is on an entirely different tier below NYC and Philly is a tier below Chicago. If you are looking for a quiet place after living in the city, Delaware may be a fit for you, especially since you seem drawn to the east coast.

Funny how that happens. I started to appreciate Philadelphia when I was in my forties. Since you'll be living not far away, maybe you'll find something there to enjoy.

My son likes to visit New York, but Philly is closer and a not too tiring day trip for him. He spends a weekend in DC every year, but that takes a lot of planning.

I don't think that Philadelphia pales in comparison to anything or any place. It has its own identity.

Just had to vent after being woken up by trucks at 4 am for the 5th night in a row.

It really is a pretty miserable city though. Complete lack of culture/arts -- not even a book store anywhere for miles.

I'm making 100k/year here so I though it would be worth the move to save a lot of money for a little while, but I didn't quite understand how truly godforsaken Wilmington is.

I suspect we are talking about this Peaches- - The Presidents of the United States of America. I may be old (61) but I know my music, and that's a good one.

And getting on here and venting is what makes you happy! Sometimes, the lure of the almighty dollar is not worth it. Did you not visit before you rented? For a 29 year old, making 100K you would think that you would have investigated it before entering into a contract.

I will NEVER understand when people spend money on a place to live and fail to investigate it before hand.

I agree. The OP is clearly unhappy with his or her personal decision to move to Wilmington. I suggested earlier in this thread that s/he take action to secure a job in a place more to their liking, as I did when I was about this person’s age. It seems more productive than taking to a forum to whine.
