I received an e-mail from Giant advising that effective 6/1, the majority of their stores will be returning to their normal operating hours, which they say are typically 6A-12P - there are a handful of stores that will close at 10P due to public transportation issues impacting employees at those locations, so they suggest checking their the store locator on their site:

Giant is retaining the senior shopping hour of 6-7A. They will continue to open the pharmacies at 6A on Mondays and Thursdays (9A on Sunday and 8A the other days).

Today we had a "vacation morning". Harrington Casino (8 miles away for us) had a small line of people waiting to get in, each person standing 7 feet apart, strictly monitored. It took us 10 minutes to get in. Our temperatures were taken before we entered (o.k.) we were told not to take our masks off and to keep our noise and mouth covered, then were asked about 6 questions (sick to stomach? been around a sick person? been out of the country? any other symptoms?)....then they turned us loose into the casino, crowd was sparse. If there were 10 machines in a row, we could only sit at each end, or the one in the middle. The other chairs had signs "DO NOT SIT". Sanitizers were everywhere, I had sanitizer in my purse, and we wore disposable gloves, which were promptly removed (inside out) and thrown away as we left. Signs: No socializing allowed, No buffet. So, we were there a couple of hours, and came out $800 to the good, thanks to my husband. It's starting to feel more normal out there. We really needed that diversion.

Sounds like a fun and profitable "vacation morning" - windfall!!! Thanks for sharing what you encountered at Harrington, as it's always nice to know what to expect in the new normal as you venture out into the New Normal. Glad you had a good experience, had fun AND made $$$. Sounds like a win all the way around.

As a newbie, I will tell you that you need not worry about the past several posters above you - we are all too smart to be that stupid. Rehoboth is another story. Boardwalk fine, they will tell you to leave if no mask. Beach is mask optional. Rehoboth Avenue another story completely. I drove down here today. Could not believe my eyes.

We can throw all those Phase One and Phase Two guidelines out the window at this point. Whatever Carney says now about going to the beach doesn't matter. These nationwide protests are going to be the litmus test to whether or not COVID 19 has been stabilized or we are screwed.

We have about another week - 10 days to see the first possible effects of the protests. It is really a very, very sad situation that the death of a man has become an excuse party for the looters. This country needs to start to teach morals, values and manners again, since we are largely devoid of them these days.

We went for a walk in Rehoboth on Monday, as we did pre-Coronavirus. I experienced the same thing you saw, Nuts. Maybe 15% of the people on Rehoboth Avenue were wearing masks and they made absolutely no effort to maintain a distance from others - they seemed in full vacation mode as if there was no pandemic. Some had masks in their hand or pulled under their chin, but they made no effort to put them on when approaching people. I noticed a LOT of stores with signs that said you must wear a mask to enter. One of them said - Free Admission if wearing a mask - $500 without a mask, so I daresay they're seeing this all day long.
Those who won't/don't comply by wearing masks or making any effort toward social distancing will keep those of us wanting to exercise caution from feeling comfortable venturing out even in a modest way.
